Background
WebFactorE wanted to establish a network of niche sites including
subject matter portals and social networking sites for the purpose
of generating advertising and merchandising revenue. Since it
was an in-house project, the challenge was to produce it on
as low a budget as possible.
Solution
Las Vegas was selected as the subject for an initial web site
to be used as the basis for subsequent sites. A three-column
design was created to facilitate the inclusion of IAB standard
web ads. A third-party polling application, blogging tool, forum
tool, and weather feed were incorporated to provide Web 2.0
interactive content at low cost. The entire site was built using
PHP and a custom CMS to ensure fast page loads and easy, web-based
content management.
Results
The site, VegasFatMan.com,
was developed and deployed in less than two weeks. |
