Services: Strategy, business development, design, development, content acquisition, operation
Before there was Dish On Demand or DirectTV Movies On Demand and years before the debut of Netflix streaming, Hulu, or YouTube, Blockbuster launched a streaming entertainment on demand system.
WebFactorE’s founder served as Senior Vice President of Blockbuster New Media and was responsible for the design and development of a platform that streamed movies and interactive games on-demand to set-top boxes via a fiber optic network. The system featured an animated 3-D user interface for navigation and merchandising titles while make browsing and selecting entertainment options from the platform’s content library fast and easy.
WebFactorE’s founder also served as a senior member of the business development team that forged strategic partnerships to secure digital rights for the platform from Hollywood studios, acquired Internet-enabled set-top boxes compatible with our platform, and gained exclusive access to a nationwide proprietary fiber optic network.
Blockbuster’s entertainment on demand system successfully debuted in three test cities in 2001.
